NNPP Sweeps Kano Council Polls

Despite a federal high court rulling barring the New Nigeria People’s Party from fielding certain candidates who are not in the list of the state chairman of the party, the Kano Stste Independent Electoral Commission, (KANSIEC) went ahead to conduct the election on the scheduled date. (Saturday, 26 October, 2024). Six Political Parties participated in the council polls with their candidates performing according to their capacities.

However, the NNPP Awon all the 44 chairmanship and 484 councillorship seats leaving the opposition political parties winning no seat.

Announcing the results, the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) confirmed the perfect domination of the NNPP in the election across the state.

KANSIEC Chairman, Professor Sani Lawan Malunfashi, said, “Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) had exercised and observed its Constitutional mandates of planning, organizing, coordinating, observing and conducting Local Government Election in Kano State of Nigeria.

The six political parties that participated in the council polls are: ACCORD, ADC, APM, AAC, AA and NNPP that defeated other parties to clinch the first position.
