A critical assessment of the crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress, APC, Delta State chapter suggest that unity among the party members remains a dream that might not be realized soon.
Emerhor’s Reconciliation Committee which was established by the State Working Committee (SWC) to look into the grievances and make recommendations to address the problems that emanated from the 2023 general elections. The essence of the committee was to find a way to unify and reposition the party for future political activities was rejected by Omo-Agege faction. While the majority report gained the support of key stakeholders, the minority faction rejected its recommendations completely.
According to the report and recommendations of Emerhor’s reconciliation committee, the leadership of the party should comprise different factions to accommodate all interest and reposition the party for task ahead.
However, Omo-Agege faction opposed the report thereby questioning the legitimacy of the committee. They also accused the committee of being biased pointing out that the inclusion of non-APC members in the reconciliation process rendered the report null and void.
The report of Omo-Agege faction also underscored the relevance of Emerhor’s committee. Their position also points out that they are not ready to shift ground for peace to reign in the party.
Reliable information told this medium that close allies to Senator Omo-Agege have accepted to shift ground but some supporters have continued to oppose the peace move. Specifically, Senators Ede Dafinone and Joel-Onowakpo and Francis Waive, have accepted the majority report and were ready to amend fences with other factions.
