Confirmed reports has it that three radio stations were burnt by fire in Aba, Abia State.
A staff of one of the radio stations said, the fire is believed to have originated in the television section of Enyimba TV and Radio Limited, the parent company of the three stations, before spreading to the others.
In an official statement, Enyimba TV and Radio Limited announced that it is investigating the cause of the fire and has temporarily suspended operations at all three stations to assess the damage and implement safety measures.
However, a devastating fire swept through the radio stations, on Saturday night destroying electronic broadcasting equipment worth millions of naira.
The affected stations are Enyimba 94.3 FM, Rose 101.9 FM, and Legend 98.3 FM—were located off Margret Avenue on the PZ axis of the Aba-Owerri Road in the Aba North local government area.
The radio stations operate differently, but they share the same building, which facilitated the rapid spread of the fire.
In it’s effort to extinguish the fire, the Abia State Fire Service did it’s best to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
Our reporter gathered that no lives were lost; but the broadcasting equipment was destroyed in the fire incident.
